Nurse Graduation Invitation

Recently, I had the opportunity to try a unique invitation, a nurse's graduation invitation! It was requested that I incorporate pink and blue into the mix and make it simple but elegant. I decided to try something different on Photoshop...something simple and elegant but also more geometric to give it an academic feel...

My favorite part of this project was the upper right hand corner because I felt aside from the uniformity of the design, the circle in the corner adds some playful uniqueness to it.

The envelopes are A7 in Candy Pink, back side 80lb. navy card stock with a pink border added with Photoshop printed on 65lb. Wausau paper, and topped with a diamond jewel sticker to make it pop.

For help with creating your own dotted/dashed lines on Photoshop I found this video sums it up pretty simply...

Disney Stop Motion Save the Date Video

This was our first attempt at a stop motion video. I was very excited for it to be our save the date video as I saw a lot of save the date stop motion videos on youtube and just had to try our own version.

For the first part I simulated the background from Disney's "Steamboat Willie" (where we chose our background music from as well!) and incorporated the Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy Kubrick toys. With some paper and marker we were able to make the word bubbles. We had a lot of fun with this video. The rest of course was created in Disney World July 2012 <3

Disney Thank You Note DIY

It was really exciting to create the invitation for my Holiday Engagement Party with Disney accents (as our wedding theme is Disney!). With the after-holiday stress, it was nice to do some crafty work to relax and be creative ...I also really wanted to make use of my mickey die cutter as I was really excited to find it at Hobby Lobby when in NJ one day as NYC doesn't have one ...

I decided to do a winter-themed Disney thank you as I sent them out right after New Years and the party had been holiday themed! I started out with these supplies:

Using photoshop- I created the thank you note along with some wintry font and printed it on 67-pound white, matte cardstock:
I then used my thank you stamp along with blue Zing embossing powder, Top Boss embossing pad, and my Martha Stewart heating tool to emboss the top of my thank you note..It was a bit difficult as it created a curling effect at times but I tried heating both the top and bottom of the card to prevent the curling. While not perfect, I was excited to complete this project as it was the first time I tried embossing!
I also used my tag die-cutter to create tags with each guests name printed onto them in Disney font-this was the easier part-then simply used my puncher and some blue-white baker's twine to add it to the note.

Lastly, I used the disney die-cutter on the bottom front of the A2 cards I bought at Michaels ...and
The Final Product! DIY Disney thank you note :)

They were a hit with the guests and I found making these thank you notes by hand was a better way of truly showing my thanks to family and friends for making our engagement party wonderful!

Check back for my Disney Ladies Brunch invitation-coming soon!

DIY Holiday Engagement Party

Here's to our second DIY Engagement Party, my own!

We decided (based on our obsession with all things Disney and the fact that we got engaged in Epcot along with my obsession with all things Christmas) to throw a Holiday Engagement Party with Disney accents (in addition to a few Disney songs including Kiss the Girl and Be Our Guest which played while the food was served!).

First came our DIY Holiday Engagement Invitation. Created on Photoshop with the help of Christmas Font found through Dafont.com. I edited a nice Mickey and Minnie Silhouette to add some playfulness to the invitation along with a layer of snowflakes, each individually picked and edited from other files (takes some patience to make this layer but in the end added some uniqueness to the plain white background!). Here is the final file >

Next we cut Holiday Green 65lb. cardstock to 5 1/4 by 7 1/4. Invitations were printed on 67lb. white cardstock and printed them at Staples as our printer was acting up, and cut to 5 x 7 and pasted onto the Holiday Green Cardstock with a tape glider. Total cost for 50 DIY invitations with printing and ribbon came to $55. Not bad if you enjoy taking the time to DIY of course :) Here is the final invitation ! >

And to add some DIY color and creativity to the party decor (even though the hall was beautifully lit with Christmas lights and decorations), we used mini mason jars from my mother's Garden Engagement Party, wrapped them with Christmas Ribbon from Michaels and filled them with some Christmas colored M&Ms. >

Finally we made our place card holders using three mini candycanes (boxes were just $2 each from the local Michael's store..came with 45 in each box) held together with crazy glue and slipped our place cards into each.... this took some care as the candycanes are fragile but were much appreciated by the guests! >

And finally- for our favors- my aunt was great enough to create DIY ornaments with personalized ribbon (ordered from wrapwithus.com) ...we set up three small christmas trees and hung these favors on them to give the guests something to walk over to and admire! Each guest was able to take an ornament from the tree on their way out and it was a hit!

Garden Engagement Party

Here are the pictures from the engagement party my sister and I threw for my mom and her fiance. My sister created the fondant cake by hand, signs were handmade by me (just spray paint, tissue paper, and blocks of wood free from my grandfather's stash!), candy was ordered from ohnuts.com, table linens ordered from efavormart.com, personalized mason jars were ordered from withthisfavor.com, centerpieces were handmade by our aunt with birdcages from Michaels (that she spray painted!) and all tableware was bought in-store from out local 99cent store!! Everyone loved the decorations thank goodness as this was our first try at a DIY party :)

Stay tuned for my future DIY, wallet-friendly projects as I will be moving this summer to a Brooklyn apartment and have a bunch of DIY projects planned and ready for our new place!
